A {new} Upcycled Necktie Purse

Another upcycled necktie project in the bag!  It's been a long time since I've made anything other than Vintage Tie Wallets and Cuffs for my Etsy shop.  So I was pretty stoked when I was contracted to make a purse for a last minute Christmas gift.

You may be wondering if upcycling neckties is the only thing I know how to do these days, ha.  It's not, but vintage neckties seem to be the only thing I have on hand to work with.  This gal's gotta make do {due?}!

My original plan was to use The Bridgette Handmade sewing pattern on Craftsy (remember this post on upgraded upcycling?) but my printer was out of ink so I couldn't print the pattern and had to come up with a quick solution.  Geesh.  Oh, the joys of last minute projects, right?

I'll save that pattern for another project for...let's say...an upcycled bag for myself perhaps?  Anyway, I'm really happy with the way this upcycled necktie purse came out, and so was my client!  What do you think?

I used 4 different neckties for the bag and the strap, and a vintage sheet for the lining

As usual, I made sure to leave details of the original neckties wherever possible.   See the original seaming?

How cool is this perfectly-placed Pegasus?

Hope your new year is heading off in fun, adventurous directions.  I'm off to go prep some upcycled goodies and freebies for the Big Bang Bazaar coming up in March {my first Florida craft event!}.
