Guess What! Interview with The Handmade Gift Guide

Meet Anne, the Editor and Chief of The Handmade Gift Guide.

If you're local, you've probably seen her at indie craft events toting a blonde headed child in one arm and a camera in the other...and of course, always a lovely smile on her face!

Not only does Anne find the best stuff at events and all over the internet, she shares it!  Per her blog, she is a self proclaimed handmade shopaholic.  But what I found out about her, she's also a talker {like me }.

That's why The Handmade Gift Guide is so perfect.

Anne is also a tough cookie.  She's one of those woman that you admire for having it together, then when you find out what she battles to make it all happen, you admire her even more.

Definitely get connected with her on the HGG blog, facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. for great gift ideas, new blogs, beautiful treasuries.  Remember, she likes to share, so if you have something handmade to show off, let her know!

How and when did you decide to start the HGG?
I fell in love with blogging when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2008. I had a family blog first, then started one for aromatherapy, then started the Handmade Gift Guide after I got back into Etsy in October 2009. My husband was traveling a lot for work and I was really lonely. Blogging was a way to be social for me. I love supporting the handmade movement and the artists behind the shops... Plus I love writing.
Is this your primary or secondary job?
Secondary. I have an Etsy shop, Renovation Alley {digital design}, I am a Holistic Health Practitioner & I teach Aromatherapy. I kinda mix it all up.
How many kids do you have, and are they all still at home?
I have 4 kids. They are 15, 13, 10, and 2. I share custody of my older three kids with their dad.

You have gorgeous family!  I find it hard to work with just one {eesh} Do you follow a work schedule?
I work on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10-5 and then whenever it strikes my fancy.
I can't work without listening to music. What's your work vice?
Hot tea. Rooibus tea. yum
I had to look up Rooibus Tea {ha!}  Perhaps I should use it to de-stress?  Speaking of, what really pisses you off?
Negative people. Energetic Vampires. My food allergies.
What handmade item are you most proud of making?
A dress that I crocheted for Jaden. It was made with a tiny little hook and looks like lace. It took me WEEKS to finish... I may let her wear it someday.

What is the last handmade item you purchased
I bought a shirt at the DIY Street Fair in Ferndale from Boho Modern.
What exciting things do you have coming up?
I will be hosting a Holiday shopping event in December on The Guide and I am super excited to be sponsoring DUCF this year! {the 6th annual Detroit Urban Craft Fair by Handmade Detroit}

She is the official photographer for DUCF this year, so maybe you will have the pleasure of meeting her in person too!  Here's more about Anne in her own words!
