the green cow flew over the cuckoo's nest

My printer makes a smooth whirring sound as it goes back and forth.

Back and forth.

Back and forth.

Back and forth.

If I'm printing a lot of pages sometimes I'll fiind myself subconciously repeating the sound it makes in my head as I work. {I know, wierd.  But it happens}  It actually makes two different sounds, perhaps depending on how large the print job is?  Or perhaps it's ALL just in my head?  {don't answer that}

Sometimes it sounds like:

Finger.

Finger.

Finger.

Other times it sounds like:

Green cow.

Green cow.

Green cow.

{I know, I'm laughing right now at how ridiculous this looks!

The latter is what I heard last week while I was printing multiple pages of my updated product tags, packaging, and business cards.  Naturally, I HAD to look it up!  I mean, who wants their printer to go all Haley Joel Osment on them while they're happily crafting in the background?  You have to know what these things mean!

Cow:
"In many cultures the cow is symbolic of Mother Earth, and has been a symbol of fertility, nurturing, and power. ...cows have been generous with their life force for eons. They are closely associated with provision and very earth-associated in symbolism."~whats-your-sign.com
And then it talks about some Egyptian Goddess named "Nut"  {I'm not kidding!} but do we really need to get into that?

Green:
"Culturally, green has broad and sometimes contradictory meanings. In some cultures, green symbolizes hope and growth, while in others, it is associated with death, sickness, envy, or the devil. The most common associations, however, are found in its ties to nature. For example, Islam venerates the color, as it expects paradise to be full of lush greenery. Green is also associated with regeneration, fertility and rebirth for its connections to nature. Recent political groups have taken on the color as symbol of environmental protection and social justice, and consider themselves part of the Green movement, some naming themselves Green parties. This has led to similar campaigns in advertising, as companies have sold green, or environmentally friendly, products." ~Wikipedia
So there you have it.  I own a very earth friendly, fertile printer capable of reproducing many printed documents that will answer to either Hope or Devil.  And yes, I will now be answering to Goddess Nut.  I'm glad I've got that all figured out now.
